区别：研究范围不同电气工程主要是研究电能的变换、输送、控制，电力系统的保护、设计、规划，电力设备的设计、制造、试验、检测，电工理论的研究。自动化研究的是控制技术，很广泛，在机械、电气等领域中都有应用，软硬件结合。不论是自动化还是电气自动化，都有一个共同的特点，那就是融合了多方元素或者说多门学科领域后的一个新兴产业，也是工业进程中的必然趋势！因为自动化的便利性与实用性，受到了各个行业或者说各个领域的热烈欢迎，例如：机械、医疗、电子，大到航天、航空，小到家用电器，可以说无处不在，在这样的大环境下必然需要大量的人才去发掘内在的潜力。

本科自动化，研究生电气工程，按我的经历说了，可能不同学校情况不同。学的东西侧重点不同，前者侧重控制，比较有特点的是运动控制、过程控制、单片机这些，后者会学电力系统，高电压这些。当然，两者也有交叉点，电路，模电，数电都是要学的，有一门课程，电力电子技术，是两者的交界点，自动化专业的电相关知识，最多也就到这里；电气工程也会学一门课叫做PLC，及其自动化大概指的就是学了点自动化的皮毛（/狗头）。就业去向不同，电气工程专业对口是电网和电厂等，自动化专业对口是制造业等。}
