　　根河地处大兴安岭北段西坡,是内蒙古自治区的北大门,全市森林覆盖率91.7%,居全国各市县之首。“冷极”是根河的别名。日凌晨,内蒙古根河市静岭检查站测出了-58℃的极端最低气温,后经国家环保部专业团队实地考察,承认此数据,至此,根河市正式成为中国新的冷极,至今尚未打破。

专家认为，这一黑龙江省首次洞穴考古发现，初步打开了回望中华民族源头之一――大兴安岭文化的“无字史书”。洞口右侧是考古人员清理出的一个探方区，探方区自上而下标记８个文化层，其中带有毛砟石的第７层又可分上中下三层，斜压到第８层上。
看草原，在内蒙古；看内蒙古最正宗的草原，则在呼伦贝尔；但若看呼伦贝尔最美丽的草原，无疑是在陈巴尔虎旗。莫尔道嘎镇：该镇地处大兴安岭北段原始森林腹地，地表为起伏的山地，南北狭窄，东高西低，最高海拔1404米，最低海拔640米。
春运以来，位于内蒙古呼伦贝尔市的根河火车站并未呈现出繁忙景象。建于1956年的根河火车站位于大兴安岭北段西坡、呼伦贝尔市北部，，是哈尔滨铁路局海拉尔车务段管内的三等站，现有职工121人，目前每天有2对旅客列车、6对货车在此经过。
