一次外出求学回来时，金刚上师邬金丹增洛诺对他说：&你以后不要任寺庙住持，不要广摄眷属，不要享用信财亡财，不要离开寂静圣处。&他。在四十五岁时于当地建造一处闭关关房，观修所有本尊、心咒，精进修行生圆次第及大圆满。而且每月初十、二十五空行节日时不间断会供，每月初八药师佛节日诵。如同金州大师一样其极热衷于灯供、花供。每晚坚持作大，一有空闲便念诵，供修蔓茶罗等，心不外散、稳如山王。他经常教诫弟子说：&内心杂念纷纷，修法不成；经常与人交往，增上贪嗔。&
六十五岁时又在卡刚静处建一闭关房。于此闭关久至七年。期间，远离一切散乱，夜以继日地专修至正行法门，自始至终毫不松懈。无论任何高官要员一律不予接见，谢绝一切来访客人，也未因任何琐事外出过。与此同时也常告诫众弟子：&从古至今，静处的修行者从未出现过饿死冻死的现象。我自己也是追循前辈诸高僧大德的足迹一心安住于寂静处。希望你们不要到处乱跑，闭关不应只是口头上的漂亮言词而应落实到行动上。&尊者真正为如今我们这些修行人树立了榜样。
现在的有些人口口声声说是要闭关，费了九牛二虎之力修了一间闭关房，一切就绪之后，在门外扣上一把大锁护关，自己跑到喧嚣的城市滚滚的红尘中去搞世间八法。真不知道房中谁在闭关，也许是他发心为小老鼠修建了一所闭关房吧。
喇拉曲智仁波切入灭
八十二岁时，尊者示现生病。弟子们请求他长久住世时，他说：&功德圆满的佛陀也趋入，难道在这个世界上有生而不死的吗？&在患病期间，眼前所现均是大圆满任运自成的成就证象。之后将所有的财产全部上供下施，并嘱咐弟子：&我死后不留任何财产，你们也不必为我念经作佛事。&
接近八十三岁时再次身染重病并且在人来人往时大声叫喊，他问身边的弟子阿索喇嘛：&我这声音外面的人能否听得见？&弟子说：&听得一清二楚，上师啊，您老人家忍著点吧！&&听见了很好，应该让大家听见。&在无人往来时上师却平静安详而住。一日，上师以狮子卧式良久。旁边的许多弟子都认为上师已圆寂了，惊恐万分。上师出定后说：&我的意识在，现在你们把我的身体捆绑起来搁置一旁。众弟子面面相觑，谁也不敢上前。上师显得很不高兴，呵责了他们。弟子们只好遵命。之后上师说：&现在可以了，你们给我供茶吧。&喝茶时，上师凝视著杯中的茶水，面带微笑地说：&这哪里是茶呀，这都是光明自然法界。&
一九四五年（木猴年）十二月初（药师佛节日），朝阳从地平线上冉冉升起之时，他对一旁的阿索喇嘛说道：&你不要坐在这里，来了。&阿索不敢再呆，便到一边偷偷地看，只见上师满面笑容地对著他那幅珍藏的唐卡注视了很久很久……。然后以狮卧式神态安然地圆寂了。此时，室外晴空万里，虽然正值寒冬腊月，天气却异常地暖和，虚空中到处呈现彩虹、明点等圆满成就之征象。后来，众弟子为上师建造灵塔以作人间供养之处。
尽管尊者的色身已趋入了，但他为佛教所培养的高僧大德不断将其弘法利生之事业发扬光大。他为后代所撰的论著及其美名必将流芳百世。
