About This Game
Hotline Miami is a high-octane action game overflowing with raw brutality, hard-boiled gunplay and skull crushing close combat. Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine. Soon you'll find yourself struggling to get a grip of what is going on and why you are prone to these acts of violence.
Rely on your wits to choreograph your way through seemingly impossible situations as you constantly find yourself outnumbered by vicious enemies. The action is unrelenting and every shot is deadly so each move must be quick and decisive if you hope to survive and unveil the sinister forces driving the bloodshed. Hotline Miami’s unmistakable visual style, a driving soundtrack, and a surreal chain of events will have you question your own thirst for blood while pushing you to the limits with a brutally unforgiving challenge.

HOTLINE MIAMI
is a fast paced, violent and addictive, 80s stylized murder spree... The best kind... obviously. Story The game offers a story, but it tells it in very strange ways. Using gameplay and visual queues as a way to tell this strange tale. It can be looked at as a good thing or bad as it's not an easy story to follow. But it is interesting.
Gameplay The game offers a verity of playstyles and you can play how you choose depending on the mask you pick. Want to go fast? Want to use guns? Want to have reversed controls? Me neither. But you won't find any control rebinds here... Which is not a good thing.In terms of options there aren't many. You are greeted with Windowed/Fullscreen and Resolution settings, along with V-Sync and an Alienware lighting FX option, as you start up the game.In terms of difficulty, it's hard. You will be dying a lot... but all it takes is a simple press of R and you're back in. If you have slow reflexes or you simply can't grasp the concept of it you will not have a good time as this leaves room for you too improve skill, but the difficulty curve is still apparent. Audio and Visual
Retro graphics mixed with fast paced synthwave and outrun music helps set the tone and atmosphere. The soundtrack is superb. The music is very well selected for this game.A calming slower paced and relaxing sound before you start your killing spree.A fast drum beat with a heavy sound while you're in the level scoring combos.An eerie almost silent ambient track as you walk through the halls of corpses. And a remorseful tone as you drive away thinking about what you've done... All to do it again tomorrow.

Have you ever played a game so much, you:* played it in your dreams, and dreamt of button combos while awake?* kept playing for fun after unlocking all the achievements?* were so familiar with its mechanics, you could play it perfectly in every category: fast reactions, recovery from difficult situations, speed, accuracy, and style?These points sum up my experience with Hotline Miami. I think of it as a variety of flavored adrenaline shots.Differences from Hotline Miami 2 :* HLM1's plot and dialogue are surreal, HLM2's are cinematic* HLM1's gameplay is largely melee-based, HLM2's is almost exclusively run-and-gun* HLM1's level design is very compact and satisfying, HLM2's is obnoxiously large and open* HLM1's NPC AI is slow and unresponsive, HLM2's is satisfyingly twitchy* HLM1's graphics are slightly less gory* HLM1's camera is more zoomed in* HLM1's keys are only partially rebindable (movement and restart), HLM2's are almost fully (not restart)* HLM1 allows choosing any unlocked mask on the Jacket levels, HLM2 allows at most a choice from several story-related masks
