卑诗首位新年宝宝 是华裔！ - Vandiary 吃喝玩乐温哥华
当新年的钟声响起，所有人欢度新年之际，卑诗省2014年第一个新年宝宝1日零时20秒诞生于维多利亚综合医院（Victoria General Hospital），让这个来自台湾的华裔家庭收到最珍贵的新年礼物。
体重3.7公斤、身长51公分的健康宝宝Daryl，是台湾移民颜嘉信和妻子蔡菊棻的第一个孩子，两人分别来自台湾的彰化和南投，30岁颜嘉信是牙医，26岁蔡菊棻是钢琴教师，住在维多利亚市旁的沙尼治（Saanich）。双方的母亲也都到场见证这一重要时刻，迎接两家第一个孙辈成员，其乐融融。

Daryl的预产期是12月20日，已过了逾一周，所以准妈妈于31日下午入院催产。经过长达5个多小时的努力，在新年的钟声里生下小宝宝，他成为卑诗省2014年第一个新生儿。
初为人父的颜嘉信接受本报记者电话访问时难掩激动，连称「太开心」。他透露，儿子的英文名来自知名电视剧《阴尸路》（The Walking Dead）的男主角之一，非常具有男子气概，这也是他对儿子的期许。他并送上新年祝福，愿Daryl健康成长。至于孩子的中文名，他则表示还未拟定，需要咨询两家长辈的意见。

颜嘉信在维市举行的记者会中并说，儿子将出世时，他一直看钟，想知道会是在2013年的最后一天，还是2014年的第一天，不过「任何时候有孩子都好，我不在乎是在哪一天生下。」蔡菊棻则笑道，生产时，她唯一关心的是「快点生下来」。
温哥华市的新年宝宝则在零时2分于圣保罗医院（St. Paul’s Hospital）出生，体重3.2公斤，也是个健康的小男孩。
